Russians, and Germans, how do you feel about constantly being portrayed as the “”bad guys”” in movies, and T.V?

Being the villains isn't so bad. Villains are often the coolest characters. Hans gruber anyone?  What really annoys me tremendously are the misconceptions americans have about Germany. It has been mentioned in here already that some of you think the nazis are still in charge. That just blows my mind how little a person can know about what's going on in the world.  On patriotism: I've seen Americans with one hand above their heart, singing the National anthem, crying. Crying! That happening outside of a football stadium in Germany is just not possible. You see, there's not really a thing like national pride here. I'm glad I'm German because things are relatively good here compared to other places but am I proud? I dunno.  Oh and one other thing. Not all poop-porn is German.  Some of it is Austrian.

As a German I don't think we are being villanized that much. Often our bad guy stereotypes show us as either Nazis, rich bastards or ruthless scientists. Nazis will always be interesting bad guys, and those sadistic scientists are part of our history as well, I guess that is fine. I've never felt as if a movie or game insulted us as a country or culture. Its just tropes. And that is fine.

"I'm used to it. Also, it seems far more acceptable in the U.S. to be openly racist to Russians and not get any shit for it. Commercials, movies, "satire", etc. consistently attack Russians and Russian culture and it can get annoying. Especially since I'm a Russian from Kazakhstan, it can get especially irritating with the Borat jokes. The movie was funny for about a week if you were 17... It's not funny anymore just drop it.  "

I don't know a movie where todays Germans are the bad guys (and I don't mean fictional crap that's based on a totally absurd past where Hitler and the Third Reich prevailed).
