I don’t even know if this exists: I want a map of the world with all the original, indigenous names for things. Does it exist? If so, where might I get it?

Edit: KAPOW: The Atlas of True Names  Some more pic's via google image search  I believe this exists. I recall seeing just such a thing about a year or two ago. It had each country labelled with what it's name meant in English.  Ok, I'm on a quest for this. "Hmm, it appears that "Iran" is misspelled in Arabic.  It should read: "jmhwry slmy yrn" However, it says: "jmhwry slmy yn" Which means they're spelling it Iyan instead of Iran. lol "

While I agree with many of the other comments that this is a really cool idea, there are too many problems with actually finding 'original' names. It's an impossible feat, the search would be endless to go further and further back to find completely original and indigenous names. Also, are you asking for actual names of these things in their own language/spelling? or simply what their names meant in the original language?

I think that a lot of people would argue over what is considered the indigenous name as many rivers, forests and mountains had different names (during the same period) depending on which area you were from or dialect you spoke. The first recorded name for any landmark is usually made by the first group with a written language to conquer an area.
