Wine and Crime did a podcast episode about cruise ship disappearances. In one of the cases, the crew wouldn’t tell any of the passengers that a little kid was missing because they didn’t want to ruin their cruise. tth_tth
Worked on a Holland ship for 7 months last year. Cheap booze in the OB (officers bar). There are ‘mafias’ on board, usually ran by whomever has the most seniority. Always helps to just be nice and toss a 5 or a 10 your bartenders way, they’re WAY more inclined to give you free shit. Lots of sex. You tend to stick to your own department, unless in the OB. Entertainers (what I did) stock with other entertainers, bridge crew with bridge, engineers together etc . Atleast on Holland America if you ever hear everything cut out on the audio (weird when you’re in the middle of a song) and ‘bright star ‘ gets called, that’s cause someone needs legit real fast medical attention. Holland Amer tends to have an older clientele on ‘smaller (still huge)’ ships.
Don’t work on a cruise ship, but I’ve heard that people leave anything and everything behind. Forget your curling iron? The crew probably has one. Need a charger? Yep. Toys for your child? You got it. If you ask, while the crew is in-between rooms or cleaning a common area, I’m sure they’d love to help you out.
Was on a cruise recently and struck up a conversation with one of the performing artists from a show. He told me how cramped the sleeping quarters were for the crew, and basically created to be shared spaces. So if he wanted to have sex with his wife, he would have to schedule it around the other 2 people who shared the space.
I’m not a cruise ship employee, but I do know that people die a lot while on cruises, and due to the fact that you are far away, their bodies are just stored on the ship until you get back to land. This website keeps track of most of them.
Videos of people having sex in public places (balconies, especially) are often disseminated among crew members. Most of the videos are unfortunately potato-quality, but I’ve seen some pretty interesting ones.

ITT: no one who actually works on a cruise ship.
My friend worked for a cruise and she said all of her team members she ever worked with were drunk/high 99.99% of the time.

The water the ship is on gets converted into water onboard to save weight and space.
