living in Northern Ireland we haven't a clue what happens next - and seriously dont believe any politicians do either. Its been a massive exercise in English bluster over substance and frankly, even though from unionist family, if i could have a United Ireland tomorrow I'd take it like a shot. England (and Wales) has over the past 5 years become a different country to ours and I no longer feel we share common values. As someone on the 'losing' side - I feel perfectly entitled to state that if you think Brexit is a good idea you are an idiot, but congratulations you won and get to run it whatever way you think is going to be so bleedin brilliant - I look forward to the re-emergence of the British Empire. sigh. rant over. sorry.

I'm horribly disappointed. Back in 2016 it just seemed so obvious that Brexit was a bad idea, I could scarecly believe that people actually fell for the swill Johnson and Farage were forcing down their throats. After that it's just been several years of bad news atop bad news and it just wears you down.

I voted remain, and was really hoping this whole thing would somehow not happen. I've spend the best part of three years thinking that maybe we'd get it all sorted and stay. But, now we are not, there is no point in bitching about it because it's actually a reality. Now I have to move from denial, to trying to figure out any problems I might encounter because of this.  Basically, I think it was a stupid fucking thing to do, but it's done, and I have to think about the future.

I'm waiting for the old people to die off so we can have a referendum to rejoin. NB am old enough to be in the majority voted leave age range. If the youngsters had got off there arses and voted we wouldn't be here. 55+ age range over 80% turnout and 63% leave 18-24 age range 36% turnout and 66% remain

I voted to Leave, and I'd do so again, but I have to say I am hesitant about what our future will look like. I flirted with the idea of switching to Remain when some of the details of the Trump deal started to hit the press, but then realised it was probably a knee-jerk reaction. I'm not really interested in debating the point though, we've had 3 1/2 years of this situation, and I've heard probably every argument on both sides more times than I've had hot dinners. I'm just glad it's finally happening, and that Democracy won.

I voted against it in the referendum, but as soon as the results were in I just wanted the whole thing over with as quickly as possible--I'm not one who agrees with re-running a vote until you get the result you want. So the last three and a bit years have been an exercise in frustration, and frankly, it's not really over yet--while we officially leave the EU at 11pm that's just the preface to another 11 months of trade negotiations.

Moderately happy. In part because being patronised & sneered at by Remainers annoyed me. In part because the EU is fantastically corrupt expensive & wasteful. It's doomed in the long terms if it doesn't get it's shit together over its financial structures, the Euro is a currency joke. In part because we will have greater control when we get rid of the EU Commissioners. I'm slightly nervous because doing trade deals with the EU/US/China is going to be hard and lengthy, and I'm not sure how good our politicians will be at negotiating.

At this point, it is what it is. I'm from NI and hold both passports so little changes for me personally, depending on where I end up living when things really do change at the end of the year. I feel bad for the people I know that don't have that choice. Sadness. Especially after watching the dignity that the MEPs showed saying goodbye to us and then the ape like behaviour of Farage and his cronies. Embarrassing beyond belief. Even without the emotional ties, practically/economically we're fucked as well. Especially in the poorer Northern regions who voted for Brexit. I just hope that the fallout disproportionately affects leavers and that they wake up and don't just apportion blame on remainers and the EU. I also hope to see a flying pig one day.

I'm pleased by the movement of the electorate towards populism, but I don't think things will get better. The working class would be getting fucked by the establishment regardless of whether Leave or Remain won. As much as I dislike the implementation of the trading bloc, prioritising trade with geographically advantageous trading partners makes perfect sense.  Most of my friends are very pleased. I'm ambivalent  the UK faces much bigger issues.

We're all going to get collectively poorer, the poorest being hit the hardest. The papers will probably tell them to blame it on the Muslims, or the Polish, which of course they will. Going to countries on the continent will probably be a bit more of a pain in the arse than it was before. I sit safe in the knowledge that I did everything I could to stop it, voted tactically at every election for parties that would have given us a fair shot at trying to get a good deal at the very least. It was all for naught of course, but I at least hold onto that.

Sadness. I'm from London where we were almost all in favour of staying part of the EU. I personally see it as a clear sign of the power of right-wing fear mongering and inherent British elitism. Its the same as how it seems the poorest in America vote for those who care the least for them, this is our version of that. Those of us under 30 or so would consider ourselves European and it makes us sad that we are distancing ourselves from our European brothers and sisters. The older generations in the UK are still convinced we are an Empire and a superpower whilst us youngsters realise that we are fading into obscurity as a 2nd rate power and it was more beneficial to pool our resources with the EU.

Honestly, i doubt much major will change any time soon. A slow increase in prices,but also a slow increase in strength of the pound. A series of caveats to work rights to ensure stability on both sides on the channel etc. But it makes me sick to hear the populists, and opportunistic politicians trying to drum up nationalist support with baseless arguments and rhetoric, blaming foreigners for problems, and lying to gain votes from people who can't see through it. Being from the North (the real north, Cumbria) I hope in the next couple months we start fixing the North south division that's existed since before I was born. Sure the South views the North as just farmland with no real care about anything which goes on and no desire to work with us, however I think now is the time we pull together and work towards a better future. Also let's legalise pot while we are at it, we are missing a huge potential income, whilst saving on many other areas (medical, prison system, an additional tax, taking money away from the black market)

My thoughts about the day are that I dont feel any different from yesterday, probably will feel the same tomorrow.  I'm sincerely hoping this doesn't f*ck us too hard. I dont want to actively wish the doom and gloom of this country just to prove that voting to leave was the wrong choice because coincidentally, I live on this rock too and I'd rather not cut off my nose to spite my face. It's shit, but it's the biggest boon to Scottish Independence. As a whole we in Scotland voted to remain a member of the EU, and the Scottish Government repeatedly asked if they and the other devolved governments could have an input on the exit from the EU. The Conservatives and Westminster told us that wasn't possible, and ignored our voices.  An independent Scotland is no longer a case of if, but when, and I sincerely hope that when that time comes, we will be welcomed back by our European neighbours

To be honest, its changed my opinion on Scottish independence. Before this whole debacle I was staunchly against Scotland leaving the union since it was nebulous at best if we were going to get back into the EU. Now that Brexit actually seems to be going through (There was a part of me which hoped it would become a historical footnote that we've been leaving the EU for the past X years) then I see no real reason to stick with the rest of the UK.
